I finally pulled the trigger and purchased a DSLR camera. It’s a Canon Rebel and I found it for a great price. However, right now I feel like a caveman with an iPad. Here’s the first picture I took with it. Of course, it’s one of Panda.

And like you I’ve yet to take my new Nikon D90 outside – her name is Bella – for fear of dropping her lol even with the neck strap! Sigh…so precious are our new babes.

LOL, Julia! “Bella”, she sounds lovely. The first time I took “Camille” outside she was amazed by a big, bright, new World. She looked around everywhere with such enthusiasm and awe. Her little lens sparkled with delight. Introduce Bella to the World and lose yourself through the eye of your new babe’s viewfinder! 😀

Have to admit, seeing the photo first and then reading “pulled the trigger” kind of worried me at first. Thank goodness it wasn’t about what I first thought it would be! LOL!!!!

Good first photo, and quite the beautiful subject. I’ve had my Nikon for a few years now and I am still trying to learn all the features. You’ll get used to it… trust me.

Thank-you! Yeah, I chose Panda because it’s tough not to get a decent photo of her. I’m excited to start learning the features. I purchased it due to being inspired by so many of the wonderful photography blogs on WordPress. Thanks again for the comment! 😀

Excellent choice. My first DSLR was a t3i rebel and it was fabulous. I’ve since upgraded to a 70D. Of course there’s always the Canon vs. Nikon debate, but I’m a Canon gal all the way. :0)

Thank-you for the reassurance. I did quite a bit of research and the Rebel seemed the one for me. I appreciate the comment. It’s funny though, right now I handle it like a new born baby! I hope to get the courage to take it outside some day. I’m looking on Amazon for camera sweaters so it won’t catch a cold. 😁

Someone gave me a book that taught me how to truly use it to full potential, it’s called Canon T3i Experience by Doug Klostermann. When I got the 70D I went back to that author for the similar book and wasn’t dissappointed. You might want to check out the version for your camera. I sat with that book for hours and it was time well spent.

I appreciate the “head ups’ on the book! I’ll probably even try to find it on the innerwebs tonight while I still have the chance. I hear the web is just a trend, and might not be around too much longer. 😉

Oh and etsy might be a better bet for camera sweaters, hah! Wouldn’t want to freeze your lens off or get frostbitten focus rings :p

Etsy, great idea! I’ll find “Camille” (what I named her) a nice black cashmere sweater that makes her viewfinder “pop”, while at the same time not revealing too much of her camera body. She’s shy.

Nice photo of “Panda”… although as the official representative of Pandas World Wide, I regret to inform you they are offended by the misrepresentation of their name and would request/demand you change your “dog’s” name to something more generic like “Bear.” Comply immediately. Thank you. -OM

OM, I consulted the PWW (Pandas World Wide) counsel and they told me you were denounced due to not being “cute” like a panda. They gave me special permission to call my dog Panda, and told me to suggest you look into HBWW (Honey Badgers World Wide). I told them I would pass it along. 😉
